RONNIE PETERSON, RACE-WORN F1 SUIT FROM 1978
Historically important and highly iconic… Worn throughout the 1978 F1 season, the same season of the fatal crash in the Italian Grand Prix.
A yellow, full-body Formula One racing suit that was personally owned and worn on multiple occasions by Ronnie Peterson in 1978. Notably, in 1978, he had two nearly identical suits. One was worn on September 10, 1978, during the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. That suit was highly damaged and destroyed due to the crash and was cut on the way to, and at, the hospital when Peterson was taken care of by medical workers. To clarify – that suit no longer exists. This is the only driver’s suit that belonged to, and was worn by Ronnie Peterson in 1978 that is known to exist. It’s by far the most important Ronnie Peterson item in the world.
The suit is in the exact same condition as it was when Ronnie Peterson last wore it in 1978. No modifications or repairs have been done. That can be verified by looking at many small details of the suit since there are multiple threads and stains that match 100% from photos from 1978 compared with the item today.
This is an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire one of the most spectacular, historically important, and iconic Formula One collectible.
Condition: In used condition, showing wear with soiling and sweat staining, and loose stitches in multiple places around the suit.
Provenance:The suit was on display at the Scandinavian Raceway Museum in the former Swedish Grand Prix host town Anderstorp for many years. It was later in the personal collection of the owner of the museum. Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the former owner. Also accompanied by multiple photo-matching studies, which showcase that it’s the exact same suit that Ronnie Peterson wore on multiple occasions in 1978. Letter of Authenticity from Alexander Bitar History
