MAHATMA GANDHI, PERSONALLY OWNED AND WORN ICONIC EYEGLASSES
A pair of gold-rimmed eyeglasses, personally owned and worn by global peace symbol Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi is known for his trademarked round eyeglasses. This is a very special item with great family provenance, engraved "MKG" on the inside, which is his initials (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi).
The eyeglasses are stored in a protective eyeglass cover and presented in a custom-made, exclusive, high-quality leather box made by the same maker as the boxes for Nobel Prize medals.
Gandhi is internationally known for wearing round glasses, making this pair one of the most iconic and recognizable eyeglasses in history. Extremely rare and historically important.
Size: Approximately 8 x 6 x 2.5 in. / 20 x 15 x 6 cm (the presentation case).
Condition: In fine condition.
Provenance: Accompanied by a handwritten note by Mahatma Gandhi's son, Devdas Gandhi, the note in full: "For you, Devdas, 54". This small note was likely placed in the case of the eyeglasses when they were gifted by Devdas Gandhi. Also accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the previous owner. Letter of Authenticity from Alexander Bitar History.
